SCOTT MICHAELS - the big bro
TODD MICHAELS - the little bro
NATASHA HABTE - not a bro
CHRISTY BECHTEL - aka Sister Christy
SARAH MACHAK - Guidance Counselor
“Mr. Michaels was already a stellar teacher. I then proceeded to find out, he is also amazing at guiding you through college essays. He not only helped with revisions, he taught me how to put all my thoughts into 650 words. As a result of his help, I was able to receive scholarships through my essay. Ultimately, he puts genuine thought and care into helping others with their essays; he is recommended through and through.”
"He especially helped me enhance my vocabulary and grammar corrections. I felt that he genuinely cared about my essays and the college process as a whole."
"Working with College Essay Bros was a fantastic experience! They made the stressful essay process so much easier. Todd helped my son choose a strong prompt, focus on his unique qualities, and provided insightful guidance throughout. I truly cannot recommend College Essay Bros enough!"
"I highly recommend College Essay Bros for their personalized approach to crafting just the right college application essay. This is not some canned grammar-checking service; Scott really took the time to get to know my student and coach him through the entire writing process. Even though my student probably could have written an okay essay on his own, Scott found just the right way to energize his existing potential and push his writing to the next level. The result is a beautiful personal narrative full of emotion and imagery; you definitely can't get that with ChatGPT or Grammarly!"
"Scott is a true professional educator and master at understanding and productively working with teens.
In anticipation of the college application process, I was dreading the inevitable battles of will that I was expecting to have with my rising senior son. I mentioned this to Scott and he reassured me that the secret to success, based on his 24 years of teaching English in NC public schools, was to let my son take ownership of the project and empower him to complete the work on his own without conflict.
My son’s final essay was not only technically excellent but it conveyed his ideas and his unique voice and captured the essence of his experiences that truly reflected his journey and aspirations.
Most importantly, Scott not only helped my son craft an essay that will help him stand out among the crowd of other college applicants but he instilled confidence in his writing that will pay dividends throughout his life."

We meet you where you are. Some students already have a great essay idea, so we'll jump directly to outlining. Others don't have a clue what they'll write about, so we'll begin brainstorming together while looking at prompts.
Each student creates an appropriate timeline for completion which includes finishing an outline, draft, revisions, etc. until it's done. There's a shared Google Drive folder that parents can also access. It includes the timeline, outline, our Super Seven tips for crafting a winning essay, and examples of excellent essays from previous students we've worked with.
We also offer college counselling and help with the non-essay part of the Common App.
We're A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE and singularly focused on rising seniors and seniors on their way to a four-year college or university. We won't be telling you what AP classes to take in 10th grade or in what developing country to volunteer to build an orphanage for the non-profit you founded to spruce up your application. But we'll be there to guide through the application process, specializing in the essay(s) that takes center stage alongside your grades and test scores.
$395 for the Common App main essay, soup-to-nuts. This includes unlimited 1:1 time with a bro/sis until parent and child are happy with the product.
We'll assist with supplemental essays for $90/hour. Same price for counseling services.
Be on the lookout for our main essay/supplemental "$529 Plan Bundle" in the spring/summer.
We'll help you develop a balanced college list to ensure you're positioned for success. We'll also take you through the application process, including letters of recommendation strategy, financial aid and scholarship guidance.
If you live in the Triangle area of North Carolina or the northern Washington, D.C. suburbs, we can meet in-person or Zoom; it's your choice. If you live outside those regions, we're Zooming. The number of times we get together is also up to you. Much of the work takes place with you sharing your writing and us commenting on it, then revising.
No. You've got this. We'll be there to coach you up through every step and guarantee to make the process easier.
Not even ChatGPT will tell your story like you. We'll help you find your voice and write a better essay than AI can.
